About Manjul

Go to Last

Born out of wedlock of Mr. Indra Bahadur and Mrs. Sarita Baraili of a small hilly hamlet of Tandi VDC, a young and promising sculptor Manjul Baraili (Miteri) started his creative art of sculpturing on stone at the tender age. Manjul has made a commitment of dedicating not a single or two or three but a thousand works of sculptures (statues) of the world famous personalities in the name of his beloved nation, Nepal.

"Although my creativity has been ignored so far, I have made this commitment to do something for the sake of my country.", says Manjul "I want to present such a gift to my country so that my country will feel proud of herself and I also desire our future generation to get inspired from the creative work of sculpturing which I have already started to hammer out."

Manjul has already made a declaration that he's going to handover a thousand statues of the world famous personalities in the name of his beloved nation free of cost. He says, "Our Nation has to accept my declaration as a token of love from an artist living in the suburban areas of Eastern Nepal."

At present Manjul is 28 and so far he has already carved and chiseled out more than 100 of world famous personalities' statues. In Manjul's vision, the total cost in creating a staue comes to the sum of $200. However, he is neither interested in selling the statues nor he is set to recreate the same statue beacause he thinks that if the same work is repeated twice, the value of collecting artistic works diminishes.

Manjul is all set to accomplish his work of handing over a thousand statues of his own creation to the nation within a span of 10 years. Regulating his endeavor. He says, "Government does not have to pay any fee for these statues because they are not created on the demand of the Govt. I don't believe in selling artistic creation in terms of money." When asked he states that he was inspired by the life of the great Nepalese Artist Araniko at the age of 11 and since then he has been devoting most of his time in sculpture. In his great endeavor he is being given a great helping hand by his beloved wife, Koushila.

Carving out the emotional probability on a piece of stone and embracing the great destination of accomplishing the task of handing over a thousand statues in the name of his great nation, Manjul himself is a bright beacon of probability in the field of sculpture and he intends to add a new dimension in this very field. In Manjul's version, artistic work should be real, live and every imagination should be converted into reality by an artist. His work of sculpture is the clarion call of his conscience and his dream is the path of an undeclared destination.
